PLACES / Napier
Known as the Art Deco capital of the world, nowhere else is there such a variety of buildings in the styles of the 1930s – Stripped Classical, Spanish Mission and of course Art Deco. But with a unique touch. Bordered by the shores of the South Pacific plus palms and Norfolk palms discover a town of hidden treasures.
The Old Custom House
This architecturally designed house cedar clad three bedroom house makes a bold statement sitting up on the beautiful Bluff Hill.
Every year Hawke's Bay plays host to scores of couples searching for the perfect wedding. But every now and then someone chooses something more unusual.
The building gives a hint of its history with a squat black whaling pot and a large ship anchor sitting outside. It is in fact Napier’s own Maritime Museum.
